My third visit to Sg Buloh is a much awaited thingy. It was planned a month ahead esp when its difficult for me to have a off day on a Sunday. Finally 15-Mar comes! Since it has been an off and on raining day for the past few days, i pray hard that today will be a bright sunny and clear sky. Thank God it didnt rain!

Photobucket

In fact i love the cloudy sky!

Despite having a nature walk in the reserve after performing nite duty last nite, i don't feel tired at all because...because i love nature walks. AND...and i love mangroves, esp watching mudskippers!

I have always love mangroves. In Sungei Buloh there's two mangroves area : Mangrove Broadwalk and Mangrove Arboretum.

In my kampung days, i love eating these wild cherries! But no cherries for me today. This tree have season for fruiting? No idea!

I've explored almost all the area in Sg Buloh. We spent three hours here. But before leaving...Watch it!

To SK, thanks for the companion! Looking forward to a next Sg Buloh trip perhaps... ;-P

Short visit to Sungei Buloh Wetland

Place : Sungei Buloh Wetland
When : 8th Feb 2009

I have always miss going to Sungei Buloh Wetland. But despite asking around many times who's interested to visit this place, the answer is still the same; "hmmm, don't want". So i have decided to visit it alone.

Work finished at 3pm. Changing to my outing attire, a friend asked where am i going? Sungei Buloh is my reply. To my surprised, my friend said " If you don't mind, can i tag along?". Ohh...not that im happy that i have a companion at the last minute, but im in deep thoughts and wonders...why would she who have no interest in nature wanna tag along? Nevertheless, im okay with any friends tagging along with me to anywhere. So, i said yes.

The wait for the bus to bring us to the wetland lasted for 30 minutes. The weather was sunny, but as we are approaching the destination, dark clouds gloom over the sky. Issit going to rain soon? I don't care. Rain or shine, I will still walk in the reserve. keke

The Bus Service 925 drop us at the entrance of the wetland. When we reached there, it was already 1650hrs. Admission to the wetland on Sunday is S$1.

For your info, Bus Service 925 will only drop you to the wetland entrance on a Sunday and Public Holidays. On any other day, you have to walk 15minutes from the bus stop near Kranji Reservoir Carpark.

While in the reserve, here's the Do's and the Don'ts

While in the reserve, its best to be more quiet. Listen more and talk less.

Reserve closes at 1900hrs. The last admission ticket will be sold at 1800hrs. Here's a schedules of the bus service 925 from the reserve. Don't ever miss the bus bcos the walk is a long walk out.

Improper etiquette of Park visitors

Where :
Pasir Ris Park Mangrove
When : 8 Dec 08

I am so disappointed with those who visited nature parks but do not know how to observe proper etiquette. What greeted me when i entered Pasir Ris Park Mangrove is an ugly sight and behaviours of some visitors to the Park.

Some would comment that the agency in charge of managing parks should be more observant to these litters and do frequent clean-up of the Park. To me, i personally feels that as the visitors to the Park, everyone should do their part to keep the Parks litter-free so as not to spoil the scenery, and eco system of the mangroves.

Pasir Ris Park Mangrove

Where :
Pasir Ris Park Mangrove

When : 8th Dec 08

SLR in my palm, mind went blank! Where can i go today to start snapping photos with my new gadget? Its been raining since morning. Oh no...am i gonna be stuck at home doing nothing but listen to the rain drops? Think! Think!

hmmm....lets see...Why not i go visit places thats near my home? hmmm...

Pasir Ris Park mangrove! I've not once been there but for so long i have always wanted to visit the place. It was said from an article that i read that the mangrove was only 5mins walk from Pasir Ris MRT station. So, thats it!

So i suggested to my siblings to visit the Pasir Ris mangrove. My 2nd brother insist not going cos of the rain. But my other two sisters were very supportive as I have told them earlier that I wanted to play around with my new gadget.

It was 2.10pm when we reached Pasir Ris MRT. Looking around from the bus interchange, we can't find any signage to indicate the direction to the mangrove. We then proceed to look at the map of the neighbouring area surrounding the bus interchange. We saw "Pasir Ris Park" on the map. But there's no indication for mangrove area.

Photobucket

We decided to just walk into the park and find out where's the mangrove, thinking that the mangrove couldn't be so far away from the park.

True enough when we read the map of the Pasir Ris Park, we saw the mangrove indication. So thereafter we just follow thru the broadwalk and start snapping photos.

Having these broadwalk makes my walking and enjoying the nature, a comfortable experience

After a long tiring walk, you can take a rest at one of these benches (its found all over the park) or rest in one of these cool close-to-the-nature hideout.

Photobucket
Can u see that one of the hideout had a tent pitched in it? The park visitor is protecting himself from the rain cos its now a rainy season.
