Crazy about ubin? Yes, I am!
Where : Pulau Ubin Place visited : Chek Jawa, Nordin Beach When : 29-May-09 Crazy about ubin? Yes, I am! Kheheee....
And so I went ubin cycling AGAIN. It was planned to be on May-21st but due to some health related problem to one of my friend's son, it was postponed. Even tho the original group member couldn't make it today, well...any number could make a group outing right? *wink*wink* Same place...same location...Chek Jawa. Nordin Beach.Weather's is perfect for sun-tanning. Thank God! Alhamdulillah.... First point; Chek Jawa. But we have an escort today. Its this buddy here...
It keeps trailing us everywhere! I guez doggy is hungry. Sorry boy, we don't bring any food. Beside our special escort, we spotted so many monkeys today at Chek Jawa. The number of monkeys spotted is extremely alot. We got quite scared. For fear that they might "attacked" us thinking that we could have food in our backpack. Fortunately, we walked out of Chek Jawa safely. Its the durian season now.
We can't resist but got to look for couple of durian for ourselves! Heeee.....Found three. Dump it in our basket and cycle to Nordin Beach for durian session! When we reached Nordin Beach...so much efforts are put in by Asheen and myself to crack open the durian!But....
Couldn't spent so much time at Nordin Beach as dark clouds hoovering over the sky. Gonna rain soon. Cycle back to jetty...its 4.30pm. How fast time flies when you're having good times...
Bid Ubin bye! bye! Will be dropping by again in June. Hope i get to taste Ubin's durian. FOC! Heee..... Before Asheen, Circa Gorda and myself call it a day, we had our early supper at Changi Village. As we sat, an uncle from this stall below ask for order to be made but we were so engrossed looking at the menu that we didn't notice him. When Circa Gorda realised that the uncle is talking to us, she gestured her hand to say sorry-later. But i guez this uncle take it too hard. When we made our order for two fried kway teow with cockles, he pretended not to hear (even tho Asheen made the order at the stall's entrance and repeated her order twice!). Not just he pretended not to hear, he doesn't even cook or serve us our order. Whoaa...isn't that too much?! Anyway, who's losing business? Its gonna be him. Cos we will patronise other stall. And btw, he's not the only stall selling fried kway teow with cockles! duh!!!
It's so sad to know that with recession period now, some still can be so arrogant and is pushing away business from coming in. hhmmm.... Labels: changi, Chek Jawa, cycling, hmmm, local, rambling, ubin

Where : Pulau Ubin ![]()
Reached Ubin @ 11am. Oh! always...always never to forget getting a map at the Information Kiosk. Just in case u might get lost in Ubin for those who's not used to Ubin route. ![]() I've been to Ubin several times, but this is the only time so far i encountered the guy who manned the Info Kiosk being unfriendly as compared to those that i met before. I guez he must have gotten on the wrong side of the bed this morning. Hahaaaaa... Rented the bike for S$7 for the whole day, we started cycling. First stop : Chek Jawa Wetland. I didnt expect much to see at Chek Jawa today as i've checked the tides..its 2.7m. So don't even expect to see seagrass. ![]() When we reached Chek Jawa, couldn't see anything cos its high tide. No seagrass, no crabs, no mudskipper....Anyways, the scenery in Chek Jawa has always been so serene and calm. Love it! ![]() ![]() Coastal broadwalk @ Chek Jawa There's two beach in Ubin that you could visit. But it isn't as good as it was many years ago. For example, the Nordin Beach. Due to water erosion, this is what happen... ![]() Both the beach; Mamam and Nordin Beach has fences put up along its coastal line. ![]() Mamam Beach ![]() Nordin Beach Cycle to just three location in Ubin took us till 5pm. hmmm.... Changes in Changi Beach
Where : Changi Coast Road Place : Changi Beach Park When : 27-28 Dec '08 My last visit to Changi Beach is in May this year. Between May till Dec seems too long. Bcos the moment i reached Changi Beach lotsa changes is done to the place. I saw bike rental kiosk and a cafe called Bistro@Changi. ![]() Bistro@Changi ![]() Bike rental Some other modifications and renovations done to Changi Beach are the shelters and ohh...just an update; for two days that i'm here i observed that the small titbits shops managed by a chinese couple near to the entrance of the toilet is no longer operating. No idea whats the reason and since when they have moved out. ![]() Requirement to obtain permits for pitching of tent still remains unchanged Despite being a rainy season, i still see so many campers doing overnite camping over the weekends. And i see more of chinese families camping overnite unlike all the past years i've been here. While most love to pitch tents by the beach, some do it near the carpark. What matter most is to foster closer bonding and have a get-together as a family! ![]() Camping by the beach ![]() Camping by the carpark There's so many place in Spore that one could go around snapping some good photos. Beach is one of the good place to learn some photography techniques. Spotted a group of guys equipped each with SLR. They are having lesson cos observed that one of them explaining and doing most of the talking. But the sad thing is that they only concentrated on taking aeroplanes flying overhead towards Changi Airport. They didnt even wait till sunset to snap moments of the sundown. :,-( ![]() Group having lesson with their SLR ![]() Sunset@Changi ![]() I have never seen Changi Beach coastline water as clear as today Some of the findings along Changi Beach Can anyone tell me whats these gross thingy that embraced this stone Take a look at whats in the cup. Ewww... Lotsa snails underneath the rocks Small prawns Like a butt. Nice! Creepy caterpillar Doesn't this flower look as tho having a pair of eyes, a beak and ears? Wakhaha Spotted a huge rabbit. Belong to one of the campers Kite flying is something new that i've seen for all the years i visited Changi Labels: beach, camping, changi, local, sun

"Orbs" captured at Changi Beach
It has been a culture in my family to camp at Changi Beach at least once a year. Mostly it'll be in June or December or both months. We would usually camp for few nights. The longest that ive recorded is 5D4N! And after that when i came back to work, my colleagues couldnt recognised me cos im charred! kheheeee... This year, my first visit is 23rd-May. Stayed for 3D2N cos the weather is too hot and moreover there's not much campers as ive usually observed for all the years that i came here. This probably due to the extremely hot weather. Okie...for the many years that i came here starting from when im still young as young as in primary sch till now..ive camped with my family, aunts, uncles, grandma, cousins. BUT this time its a lil different, there's only me and my other siblings AND I bring along my camera. In the past, moments of leisure are taken by the normal camera and camera phone, but this time i decided to bring my digi cam. One photo that i took, captured what some ppl would call "orbs". According to scientists its a dust particle that catches light. But some say its a ghost. I leave for u to say for urself what are those "bubbles" captured. Btw, this is taken at 1915hrs. My second shot of the same location after few seconds, shows an absence of those bubbles. Click here for related link Wikipedia Orbs - Paranormal ![]() See those bubbles? Changi Beach Park
Place : Changi Beach Park Where : Changi Coast Road When : 23-25 May '08 ![]() To get here, take SBS service 9, 19 and 89 and alight in front of the beach. Also u can get SBS service 2, 29,59 and 109 to Changi Village and walk 5-mins walk to the park. SBS service 2 and 9 can be boarded from Bedok MRT. SBS service 19 and 29 from Tampines MRT. SBS service 59 from Bishan Interchange. SBS service 89 from Hougang Central and Pasir Ris Central. Activities that u can do here : Camping, BBQ, fishing, cycling, roller blading, jogging, lazing around and of course eat (cos its so very near Changi Village)! ![]() Camping is so much fun! ![]() Self marinated BBQ sauce If u wanna do camping on a weekday, u need to have a permit. No permit is required for a weekends and PHs camping. Park rangers will be doing his rounding to ensure that valid permit are given out to the set up tents. For issual of permits, its as easy as pitching up ur tent and the park rangers will approach u to scan ur IC. Once scanning is completed, a slip will be issued to u, and u need to attached it to ur tent. Scanning of IC done on daily basis. During school holiday period, u can see that the beach is so packed with campers and it feels like there's party going around on most parts of the beach. But these are seen mostly on area where the BBQ pits are. Towards the end of the beach, u can see another "world" of campers. These are those of private and quiet campers who pitch their tent for more privacy and quieter atmosphere. But still enjoying the sounds of waves, the smell of sea and the amazing sunset and sunrise. ![]() Sunset ![]() Sunrise Try to come early during school hols (esp weekends camping) i.e before evening 5pm to get a very good spot if u wish to pitch a tent cos during sch hols, there's too many campers. U'll end up getting spot too far away from the toilet if u're late. There's only one toilet in the park. Beside urinal purposes, there's shower facilities inside the toilet as well as outside the toilet. There's also a small shop in front of the toilet; selling drinks, titbits, soap, shampoo and etc. Toilet usage is free of charge. If u and ur family planned to camp for a few days and wants more than just what Changi Beach could offer, u can visit Pulau Ubin (the island just opposite Changi Beach) during the day, and return back to ur tent in the evening. But dont forget to bring all ur valuables. Labels: BBQ, beach, camping, changi, local, sun
