Touch down at Kuching International Airport at 1215hrs. Meet and greeted by local tour guide, Yudi and driver, Zaidi. Proceed to Serian town. There, our van stop and I was told that Yudi is doing some marketing - fish and chicken. I'm curious! Asked Zaidi and was told that they ( Yudi and Zaidi) are cooking for the guests (that's us). Reason being, the food cooked by the longhouse host was not halal ( there were pork).

Journey from airport to the boat took us 4 hours. When we reached, we were greeted by Agong, out boatman from the Lemanak longhouse. We reached the longhouse at 5pm.

From where I embarked, I saw a kampong like scenery. Where's the longhouse??? Ohh... Then I found out that the longhouse is little further up from the guesthouse. Guests to the longhouse do not get to stay in the longhouse. Its separated. Guests house equipped with kitchen, toilet, six bedded room (on sharing basis), mosquitoes netting and dinning area. I love the dinning area. Dok lepakz... (slacking...)

This is where me and the other guests put up for the night.

At 5.30pm, Yudi brought us around. I was told that I could walk around un-guided if I wanted to, anytime. I know why cos I observed that as we walked around (with Yudi), he greeted and introduced us to the Ibans. So, these Ibanese knows that we were Yudi's guests. Cool!

In the old days, whenever any enemies are killed, the Chief would behead the enemy and hung his head as a show of victory and power.

Sitting, chatting, walking around... soon its 7pm. Time for dinner. Met 2 other guests to the longhouse. From Germany. Had dinner together with the locals.

Pasuh. Chicken cooked in bamboo. This is one of their local dish.

Tuak drinking session with the Deputy Chief of the tribe (he's the one in red)

8.30pm, time to visit the longhouse for a culture show and Tuak drinking session. We have to shout 'OHH Ahhhk!' 3 times. The Tuak session is some sort of a welcome drink. Tuak is actually fermented rice wine or coconut drink. It is presented from the host to the guest or from the guests to the dancers/entertainers. There were surreal types of dances presented - welcome dance, warrior dance amd celebration dance. The dances were accompanied by live music produced by gongs and other traditional instruments.

I vote him for the best entertainer for the night!
