Rantau Panjang, Msia

Where : Malaysia
Place : Rantau Panjang, Kelantan
When : 12 to 15 June 2009

June holidays is a time where so many travel agencies would organise group tours. And my dad just love group tours. So we sign up for a trip to a 4D Kelantan-Trengganu organised by Halijah Travels.

Departed from Eunos MRT at 1800hrs, bus heads to Clementi MRT where another group of holiday makers awaits to join us. We cleared immigration by 2nd Link and soon we're on a SVIP coach of 26 seaters to our first stop..supper! kheheee...

We're supposed to be having supper at Machap but our driver, Tony recommended this place. Not crowded and good food. Even the hot tea is so sedappp...! The problem is that the service is too slow. Prob cos its late nite and they didn't expect a busload of customers.

When we reached Trengganu, its already time for the morning prayer, sholat Subuh. We prayed at Masjid Chalok. Next stop Rantau Panjang, Kelantan.

Rantau Panjang is near to the border of Thailand separated by a river. Due to this close proximity to Thailand, Msia have imposed sone prohibited items that can be brought out of Rantau Panjang. Some of the things that we cannot bring out is Batek branded semut (ants), glutanuos rice, rice, preserved fruits.

I was told that if you purchased from a shop more than RM50, please get a receipt. Rantau Panjang is a duty free zone, thus there will a custom check when we leave Rantau Panjang. And expensive items will be taxed 10%. So do avoid dispute of customs officers setting the duty to be paid, get a receipt.

At Rantau Panjang, you can get anything and everything ranging from fruits, preserved fruits, pots and pans, bedsheets, malay wedding's door gift, jerseys, branded polo Tee and anything for a very very cheap price. And...never ever to forget to bargain.

I found the above foodstuff here. 4 for RM1. The problem is that its so much different from Sgp. In Sgp the filling in the glutunuos ice would be spicy grated coconut. But in Kelantan the filling is sweet spicy fish. And gosh! the sweetness of the fish is so very the sweeeeetttt....Not recommended for diabetic!

Its norm in Kelantan to be very very sweet. So for those that can't take too sweet esp when u order your hot tea, tell the waitress that you want lil milk in ur tea/coffee.
